Port Everglades Terminal 18 Phase II

Location: Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Client: Broward County

Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines selected Port Everglades as the home port of operations for the Oasis of the Seas, one of the largest cruise ships in the world. With another Construction Manager working on Terminal 18, the project was behind schedule with less than 15 percent complete, and only nine months remained before the large cruise ship's arrival. Moss was asked by the Construction Manager to assess the project's ability to meet the schedule, and to develop and implement a recovery plan to assure timely completion. Moss provided five personnel to manage scheduling, cost, design interface, all financial processes, and interface with the County. The project was delivered satisfactorily, ahead of schedule and well under budget.

The scope of work for this $1.7 million project included a 138,000 SF expansion of the facility in two levels to service passenger embarkation operations for the Oasis of the Seas vessel. The project also included a 600-space parking lot, intermodal improvements for the terminal, demolition of Terminal 16 and its conversion into a future container yard, new passenger loading bridge, site work and marine infrastructure improvements.
