Moss Construction Completes $45.4 million Kaiwahine Village

The affordable housing development brings 120 units online in Maui

HONOLULU, HI. – Moss is pleased to announce the completion of the much awaited Kaiwahine Village in Kihei, on the island of Maui.

Developed by Ikaika Ohana, the non-profit managing general partner, Kaiwahine Village is a 70,182 sq. ft. residential project featuring 120 affordable housing units for families earning up to 30, 40 and 60 percent of the area median income. The project’s two- and three-bedroom units, range from 937 sq. ft. to 1362 sq. ft., and have energy star appliances, hard surface flooring, solar water heating, water-wise plumbing fixtures and ceiling fans throughout. In addition, Kaiwahine Village has two on-site employee units and will have on-site property management.

Ikaika Ohana will also sponsor social and education programs at the community and in conjunction with the surrounding schools and community organizations. Hunt Capital Partners provided the equity for the project and Citibank USA funded the construction and permanent financing. The developer utilized the Hawaii Housing Finance Development Corporation’s tax-exempt bonds and tax credit program along with financing made available through the County of Maui’s HOME loan and Housing Trust Funds.

Designed by Design Partners Inc., Kaiwahine Village’s amenities include a community center, central laundry facilities, tot lots, recreation areas, a clubhouse, and courtyard as well as plenty of on-site parking for residents and guests.

The project welcomed its first residents in May of 2020.
