Colombo Energy, Inc.

Moss was chosen to be the design-builder for a new wood pellet manufacturing company that will bring a $110 million investment and 70 new jobs in Greenwood County, South Carolina. Colombo Energy, Inc. is an integrated forest, pulp, paper and energy company and is currently Europe´s largest producer of uncoated wood free paper. The Greenwood facility will provide a renewable, sustainable source of energy for many thousands of electricity consumers for years to come.

The scope for the development of the 125-acre site included 450,000 cubic yards of earthwork, more than 2.75 miles of water and sewer lines, 48,000 square yards of asphalt and store roadways and 12,000 linear feet of chain link fencing. We were also awarded the Office Building, which will be a 6,200 SF office building for Colombo Energy. In order to meet an aggressive schedule and limited budget, Moss proposed a wood framed building with residential cladding materials so that construction materials will be readily available and allow for a quick start. The floor plan includes offices, toilet & shower facilities, a kitchenette, meeting rooms, storage, etc.

The current phase is to build the equipment foundations and process buildings for production of the wood pellets. The phase includes 14,000 cubic yards of concrete. The pellet press building will be approximately 29,000 SF and the dry hammer mill building will be 11,000 SF.
